Skywest Australia Shrinks Operation from Geraldton

Australia’s Skywest Airlines is shrinking operation at Geraldton in West Australia, as it is cancelling 2 routes, 1 each in May and June 2012. Details:

Geraldton – Kalgoorlie Service to be cancelled from 11MAY12
XR021/DJ5021 GET0850 – 1000KGI 100 5
XR022/DJ5022 KGI2150 – 2315GET 100 7

Geraldton – Port Hedland – Karratha – Geraldton Service to be cancelled from 18JUN12
XR165/DJ5165 GET0630 – 0915PHE0945 – 1030KTA1100 – 1330GET F50 1

Skywest will continue to operate 1 weekly Geraldton – Port Hedland service. On Port Hedland – Karratha sector, AirNorth Australia will be the sole operator on this route

In the airline’s press release, Geraldton – Kalgoorlie traffic didn’t meet the airline’s expectation since its launch 8 months ago. On Geraldton – Port Hedland – Karratha – Geraldton service, passenger growth was stagnant, unable to support the airline’s future growth.
