Statement on Arik Air Report on 22AUG11

Nigerian carrier Arik Air has notified this website concerning the report on Monday 22AUG11, regarding the airline’s plan to use Boeing 737-800 aircraft instead of Airbus A340-500 on Lagos – London Heathrow service on selected dates in September and October 2011.

In the notification e-mail, the airline states the change from Airbus A340-500 to Boeing 737-800 is due to scheduled C-check maintenance for its A340-500 fleet. The airline also address other minor concerns.

Ural Airlines International Service Expansion from Oct 2011

As per 24AUG11 GDS timetable display, Russian carrier Ural Airlines in Winter 2011/12 season (mostly effective from early October 2011) is expanding service on International flights.

The airline will be launching new services to Dubai, from Chelyabinsk, Krasnodar, Krasnojarsk, Nizhniy Novgorod and Novosibirsk. In total the airline offers service to Dubai from 9 Russian cities. Further, the airline is launching International service from Chelyabinsk (3 International Routes – Dubai, Harbin, Vienna) and Novosibirsk (2 routes – Dubai, Harbin).

Also on the focus in the Winter schedule is Harbin, China, where the airline offers service from Chelyabinsk (new), Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk (new).

Oman Air W11 Changes to Tanzania Operation

Oman Air in Northern Winter 2011/12 season is adjusting service to Tanzania.

Operational schedule out of Muscat will be unified to late-morning departure. Service to Zanzibar will be reduced from 4 to 3 weekly. Dar es Salaam service remains daily (3 weekly service operates via Zanzibar on the outbound)

Norwegian to end Oslo Rygge Service; New Bodo – Las Palmas Winter Service Launch

Norwegian has announced it’ll be end service to Oslo Rygge. All International service will be cancelled from 30OCT11, while domestic flights will be cancelled from 03JAN12.

Meanwhile, the airline has announced the launch of Bodo – Las Palmas route from 04NOV11, becoming the First International service out of Bodo.

LAN Service Changes to Bogota in NW11

LANChile from 12DEC11 is adding 7th weekly service on Santiago de Chile – Bogota, on board Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. 3 of the 7 weekly service continues to Miami.

Also, LANPeru’s Lima – Bogota service will lose 1 weekly frequency starting 02JAN12, which sees the airline operates 13 weekly A319 service.

Silk Air to Launch Bandung & Changsha service in Oct 2011

Silk Air announced it’ll be adding 2 more destinations in the 4th quarter of 2011, with service launch on Singapore – Bandung from 11OCT11 and Singapore – Changsha eff 31OCT11. Service to Changsha is subject to Government Approval

Both Bandung and Changsha will be served thrice weekly, but Bandung will see frequency increase to 5 from 30OCT11.

ASIANA AIRLINES to convert Honolulu service to Regular Scheduled flight from Dec 2011

On 15AUG11, this site reported that ASIANA AIRLINES plans to start operating Seoul Incheon – Honolulu NONSTOP service starting 18SEP11 t0 07DEC11 as scheduled charter service.

Lufthansa Reducing Capacity to Cairo in W11

As per 24AUG11 GDS timetable display, Lufthansa is reducing capacity on Frankfurt – Cairo service in Winter 2011/12 season, effective 30OCT11.

Planned Boeing 747-400 aircraft operation is being replaced by Airbus A321 aircraft. Munich – Cairo route is also to be operated by Airbus A321 aircraft in W11.

Peach to Start Operation from Mar 2012 with Osaka – Sapporo / Fukuoka Service
