The following is the miscellaneous route updates and other related information as of 26MAY11

As an early reminder, in observance of US Memorial Day Holiday, posting is not available on Monday 30MAY11. Also, due to other issue, Tuesday 31MAY11 posting is also not available. However, new updates will be posted pending on its significance.


Air China on 21MAY11 resumed 3 weekly Beijing – Dunhuang CA1287/1288 service. Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating.

Beijing Capital Airlines from 29MAY11 is increasing Guangzhou – Sanya route from 4 weekly to Daily. Flight number is JD5168/5167

China Eastern from 01JUN11 launches Wuxi – Changsha – Guiyang MU2955/2956 service with Airbus A320 aircraft. From 10JUN11 it’ll be adding Kunming – Diqing – Lhasa route on board Boeing 737-700 aircraft (MU5933/5934)

China Express today (26MAY11) launches 3 weekly Chongqing – Weifang – Dalian route. Flight G52641/2642 operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

EGYPTAIR from 20JUN11 is launching Cairo – Abha service, becoming its 5th destination in Saudi Arabia. Boeing 737-500 aircraft operates 3 times a week

Indonesia’s KAL Star Aviation has launched Pontianak – Kuching route with Boeing 737 aircraft.

China’s CAAC has approved Mega Global Air to operate Boeing 767-300 aircraft on Male – Beijing and Male – Shanghai Pu Dong service. The carrier is able to operate up to 7 weekly flights. It currently offers charter service between Gan Island and Hong Kong.

Belize’s Tropic Air is introducing weekdays service on Belize City – Flores – Guatemala City route.

Bangladeshi-carrier United Airways is to start 2 weekly Dhaka – Bangkok service with ATR72 aircraft from 09JUN11.

WizzAir on 31MAY11 operates last Vilnius – Stockholm Skavsta service

Flight Number Changes
Cimber Sterling starting 30OCT11 is changing its operational flight numbers. All 4-digit flight numbers will be moved to 3-digit flight. Such changes is already in effect.

TAP Portugal starting 30OCT11 moves flight number range from TP700 – 799 to TP1000 – 1099 for service to Spain.

UNITED continues to re-align operational flight numbers as part of on-going integration with Continental. Another wave of flight number realignment is expected to take place from 01JUL11.

Mahan Air and Vietnam Airlines are also changing their operational flight numbers on International route starting 30OCT11.
China Airlines and China Eastern has launched codeshare service on Taipei Taoyuan – Wuhan service, where both carriers operating 2 weekly flights each

The low-cost joint venture between Star Alliance member ANA and Hong Kong-based First Eastern Aviation Holdings Limited on Tuesday (24MAY11) announced the name for its planned low-cost carrier as “Peach“. Official name is “Peach Aviation”, which replaces tentative title “A&F Aviation”.

Citing for undisclosed source, JAL is targeting Boeing 787 operation to Singapore for Winter 2011/12 season, although no specific dates/schedules is mentioned. It appears that Singapore is on the list of JAL’s first-wave (destinations) of Boeing 787 International Operation, replacing Boeing 767. Along with Singapore, other destinations in China, Korea and South East Asia will eventually see the Dreamliner operating. Note this is pending on planned aircraft delivery date (yet to be firmed up) and aircraft operation assignment.
