MEXICANA Resumes European Service (Update 09AUG10 1900CDT)

MEXICANA has announced it has reversed its decision to Cancel all European service. As per announcement on 09AUG10 1900CDG/10AUG10 0100GMT, the airline will continue to operate Mexico City – London Gatwick and Mexico City – Madrid service

QATAR Airways 777-200LR Routes to Asia & South Africa Aug – Oct 10

As per 09AUG10 GDS timetable display, QATAR Airways is extending Boeing 777-200LR operation to South Africa till 30SEP10. Previously -200LR service was planned until 31AUG10.

In addition, QATAR Airways from now until October 2010 is operating 777-200LR aircraft on selected routes and dates that are usually operated by larger -300ER:

Vietnam Airlines starts KLM & CSA Czech Airlines codesharing

Vietnam Airlines and KLM has launched codeshare service, covering service between Amsterdam and Ho Chi Minh. From 01SEP10, it’ll begin unilateral codeshare service with CSA Czech Airlines, with “VN” code appearing on CSA’s Frankfurt – Prague service.

Ethiopian Airlines cancel Djibouti flights

Ethiopian Airlines has temporary canceled service to Djibouti, due to the dispute between the airline and The Djiboutian Authority over the type of aircraft can be operated.

Ethiopian’s current 10 weekly Addis Ababa – Djibouti and 4 weekly Addis Ababa – Dire Dawa – Djibouti operates with new Dash8-Q400, switching from Boeing 737 since June 2010. The Djiboutian authority says Ethiopian Airlines can only operate jet aircraft, not turboprop.

GMG Airlines launch Saudi Arabia service

Bangladeshi carrier GMG Airlines over the weekend launched new service to Saudi Arabia. 3 weekly Dhaka – Riyadh route was launched on 07AUG10 and 4 weekly Dhaka – Jeddah was launched on 08AUG10.

Both route operates with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, which features the airline’s new corporate identity and livery.

Emirates Kuala Lumpur W10 aircraft adjustment

As per 09AUG10 GDS timetable display, Emirates is adjusting planned aircraft operation on Dubai – Kuala Lumpur route from 31OCT10.

EK342/343, planned to be operated by 777-300ER, has been canceled. 777-300 will continue to operate this flight.

As per GDS timetable display on 09AUG10, Turkish Airlines from 21DEC10 to 09FEB11 is reducing Istanbul – Jeddah service from 20 to 7 weekly.
